I think I might only enjoy the "e version" of a combustion engines during top gear, a commercial, video or while comparing exhaust notes to decide on next exhaust config.
But if you are driving and listening to it, you better damn well be part of the real thing!
Fire, explosions, and big gulps of air make that awesome sound.

I thought Ford got the patent on engine noise from the first Raptor, it comes out of the tailpipe. Not the sound system, that's for music tunes

Love it when Top Gear spends an entire episode attempting to find the perfect exhaust note on a car. Hard to believe they get paid for that. Some they test are beautiful!

At least it can be disabled...or should be able to. We had it disabled in the our 16 Ecoboost

um.... my stereo is for my music. my exhaust is for my motor. my stereo shouldnt play exhaust sounds and my exhaust shouldnt play metallica

My 2015 plays a V8 growl through the speakers under acceleration, my wife is like the truck sounds so tough.

This is not so crazy, unfortunately. Ford, BMW and I assume other car makers doing this. Let's face it turbo charging masks the higher engine frequencies.
