The Raptor will be the first to get this engine so it isn't sharing shit with F-150's and it is influenced by the engine they use for racing the Ford GT.

not arguing for no reason, someone comes in and says I'm entirely misinformed because they lack reading comprehension? I'm going to point out where their argument falls apart.

regardless of which vehicle it rolls off the assembly line first, doesn't change the fact that the raptor 3.5 will be a lot more similar to the one that lands in the f150 for the masses, than it will the one that lands in the GT for the privileged few.

Ford says the new truck will make more power than the previous model, which was rated at 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque, but didn’t tell us exactly how much. It did say that the engine is a version of the 600-plus-hp mill that will power the Ford GT. It’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel drive and a torque on demand transfer case, which distributes power between the front and rear wheels.

Never said it gets the exact same one as the Raptor, but the f150 is getting the same new 3.5 platform that is getting tweaked for the raptor and tweaked for the GT

What is the big deal with the 2017 Ford F-150 that goes on sale in the fall of 2016? It gets a completely redesigned 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine and a new 10-speed automatic transmission. The updated powertrain means that the 2017 truck will be quicker off-the-line and more efficient down the road. Exactly how much quicker and how efficient will it be? This information has not yet been released, and we did not have an opportunity to drive the new powertrain combination

The second generation 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 is new from the bottom up and inside out. It uses high-tech materials to remove weight from the valvetrain and the turbochargers. It has a new fuel delivery system that employs both direct and port fuel injection. The resulting output number for what Ford calls the “base 3.5-liter EcoBoost” is 365 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. [IE the f150 gets the new base 3.5, the raptor gets a tweaked version, and the GT gets a really tweaked version] While the maximum horsepower remains the same, the torque figure grows by 30 lb-ft from the previous generation of the twin-turbo V6.

All this power means nothing if it cannot get to the ground, and the new 10-speed automatic transmission is the crucial next link in the updated powertrain. This transmission has a lower first gear and more closely spaced gear ratios to improve off-the-line acceleration and keep the engine within its optimum rpm ranges for power or efficiency. It has 6 forward “under-drive” gears, 7th direct-drive gear, and the top three “over-drive” gears.

Ford did collaborate with General Motors on the design of the transmission, but neither company specifies which components each company customized or tuned for different applications. Chevrolet chose to unveil their version of the 10-speed automatic transmission in the high-performance 2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1

A tweaked version of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 and the 10-speed automatic transmission will also be used in the upcoming 2017 Ford Raptor. Ford calls the Raptor version of the engine “high output”. Ok there we go, so F-150 gets a new engine, but it's not the same as the High Output Raptor engine. So the race engine inspired the Raptor engine and the F-150 will get a de-tuned/dumbed down version of the 2nd gen EcoBoost what ever you want to call it.

Let's work with facts going forward and avoid all the speculation, it makes things easier.

You're making it sound like there were 2 independent engine projects going on separately and only coincidence they're both 3.5s. A 2nd gen 3.5 for the f150, and then a totally separate GT supercar 3.5 that was detuned for the Raptor. Sorry that's not how it works in that field.

There is one new 2nd generation 3.5 platform, that is then tweaked with several variations of it. The regular f150 baseline version, a tweaked raptor version, and an even further tweaked GT version. Still all the same 2nd gen 3.5 at heart, with varying levels of changes to it.

Also just because ford dropped the news in a certain sequence, doesn't mean that's the order they came about behind the scenes.....rather a sequence that is best for the press.

F150 is announced with a new 3.5....WOW, the f150 is getting a Raptor engine with a couple less ponies
