I was looking under the truck tonight and noticed all this black grease everywhere. I also noticed the bottom two ball joints on both sides where not flush at the top with the lower control arm. Almost a quarter inch popping towards the hood. Is this normal? Here’s a couple pics.

There could be a hole in that rubber boot, but it's hard to tell with all of that grease on the boot.

Ok going to clean it then search a little more around the boot. Will get back to you. Is this a warranty item?

Good question. show the pics to the local stealership. It’s a little soon for boot failure IMO, maybe just the clamp. Repack, re-clamp and monitor probably.

Just cleaned it off. There is a finger nail size tear right next to the clamp. The truck only has 1900 miles on it.

At the gm dealer I'm at we warranty CV boots under powertrain on the regular. I'd think they would over it with that low of kms. Sorry Miles

Maybe they will, maybe not. Some consider it a wear item since trucks tend to leave the road. Easy to tear one on low trees, rocks etc.

Leave the grease and bring it to the dealership, they will replace the axle. I’ve had two replaced under warranty on my GEN1 so far for the exact same reason.

Lower ball joint looks fine
