Nice, but why not just put a push button in the dash somewhere?

That could very easily be done.. It would even be much easier than using the upfitter switches. Essentially all you're doing is grounding a single pin in the BCM C2280B connection.. But, I just liked the idea of using the upfitters for it.

Hey there FRF... Today I finally became sick of not having a way to "pop" the tailgate from inside the truck besides digging in my pockets for the key fob. So, I started tinkering around until I found a way to pop the tailgate using the up fitter switches. Here is a short video and writeup I made to cover it if anyone else is interested. Costs less than $10 and takes about 30 mins. 802A trucks only

Awesome job! Thanks for taking the time to write this up for us.

Just curious if you leave that Aux 6 switch forward does it continue to send power to the tailgate release?

No, it doesn’t.

The switch will continue to send power to the relay. But, no additional power will be sent to the tailgate release after its triggered. The pin we’re tapping into on our trucks is the same pin the fusion and focus use for their trunk releases. Leaving the aux switch forward is the same as pressing and holding a trunk release button.

It also will not function while the Truck is moving as it runs off the Truck release system.
