I took the course Sept '13, and there were no problems using personal go pro's. Put them on first thing however as with the fun, dirt builds up over the course of the day and you will need to have a clean surface. The trucks are power washed after each day, so mount the cameras in the morning after the classroom teaching.
It's definitely improved since I took the course; the afternoon was on the ranch field directly opposite the Motor sports complex...there was a ravine about 1 mile in length about 10 to 30 feet below grade that cut left and right and back and forth the whole length. It was great to practise left foot breaking to weight the front tires there. Also there was a tabletop that allowed a little air time.
We never got to the mountains...damn!
I highly recommend it to anyone that can go!
