Only 7 hours left until I pick up my 2018 black screw.
It arrived at the dealership on Tuesday, though I had no more sick days.
All seems so surreal knowing that a Rapter is about to fill up my small driveway with all its shiny presence.
It's been over 2 years in the making to save up for her.
Worst thing about this is the realization that I'm going to be a bit stressed out leaving her parked somewhere.

Does the dealership take you through all the different settings at pick up or are you just meant to drive it off the lot and figure it out at home.

1st brand new vehicle for me, so nof sure of the procedure once I arrive at the dealeship.

Dealers used to be required to take you through the features of the truck, though it was a quickie overview. I’m sure they still are, 13’ was maymlast new one. That’s mainly due to the survey they will send you from for asking if the dealer did what they were supposed to. So if you have the time make sure they take more time doing it. When I bought my 11’ F150 they were particularly focused around the sync system as ford had gotten a lot of complaints about how bad they were. Personally i never had issues with mine but most complaints were from people who didn’t know how to operate them.

To me part of the experience of enjoying a new vehicle is spending time figuring out how they operate.

Your sales rep should walk around the truck with you to verify if there is any damage prior to driving off. Go over the paint to see if there are any dents, imperfections, or scratches. If they are noted they will schedule the repair at their cost. Interior same thing make sure leather doesn’t have any tears/marks and all the trim pieces look good.

A new vehicle specialist should come over and walk you through the features of the truck. They’ll connect your phone via Bluetooth, enter your home address for navigation. Sync 3 is really user friendly so you can skip this if you want.

Make sure they give you all three keys. Two remotes and a tire key. And a full tank of gas!

Congrats on the Raptor. Post a pic once you get it!

I'm absolutely sure your brand spanking new vehicle will come with an equally spanking new OWNER'S Manual!
Take you new truck home, spend some time reading the manual.
That is the BEST WALK AROUND you can get.

Yes pics will be a long at some point,.
A few things I need to address, I told the dealership that I didn't want them to wash it prior to picking it up. I prefer to do that myself. The truck was in the back lot and it was really dusty. More so than I expected it to be, even travelling on a rail car to California.
Once I got it home I washed it , this is when it came real apparent it was covered in water spots , the hood , roof and the horizontal areas of the fenders. It is bad.
The sales person told me to bring it back they have something that will get it out but it will be a two day process. Pretty upsetting given the led foot that came in the same time had no issues like this. My fear is they might have to do a deep polish to get the water spots out and on new paint I've heard that's not good as the paint is still soft and not had enough time to cure properly.
Other than this upsetting situation I found only one small paint chip at the top of the front passenger door. Frame that i can live with.
Now the good stuff, the rest of the day I spent driving it, not yet off road but still on the freeway and back roads it is amazing. I'm blown away by the power it has. And the handling, though as others have mentioned it needs better brakes. I had it up to a hundred and it does that in no time at all. I love the sound of the turbos spooling up and any remorse that its not a V8 went right out the window.
Any advice on how to proceed with the water spots other than having the dealership attempt it would be appreciated, as my concern is they might make it worse.

Wash and dry the truck.

Then claybar it - that will take out the water spots and contaminates.

After clay bar, apply a good sealer. Give the sealer 24 hours to bond before washing again or adding wax.

If you are so inclined, after the 24 hours , apply a coat of wax.

If there are any spots that the claybar will not take out, then I'd have the dealer address them.

I found a few paint nipples on mine after the above steps. I'm going to have the dealer address them with a paint nib tool. ( I could do it, but if the nipple comes off and results in a small spot without paint, I do not want to be the cause. The dealer can touch it up if it happens to them.
