Can't tell you about GEN2s, but I've got nearly 75,000 miles on my GEN1 and there's still PLENTY of brake pad left. Of course, it all depends upon how you drive. If you treat every stop light and stop sign as a brake test, you're going to go through your brakes a lot faster than if you use engine compression braking a lot.
