I'm thinking of trying this park out but was wondering if anyone has done it? I'm a complete novice so not looking for something crazy and would like some trail recommendations. And yes I would be pretty upset if my five-month-old truck has a giant gash in the aluminum body or comes out completely scratched up. Is the Raptor too wide for the trails?

its more suited for quads and dirt bikes. there is a truck/4x4 area, but its small. if you are looking for some offroading, theres an event just outside reno next month

Ha beat me to it! Yeah come with us on 9/30! I have been to Hollister a few times, and it is true, it is more for jeeps and smaller trucks but I have had fun there in the past. It is a lot closer than pismo svra or nevada's BLM land so it makes for a good quick day trip. All are welcome, we can widen the trails a bit :)

It is a fun day trip but it is definitely tight. You will end up with some Sierra pin striping added to your truck. I recommend going up to the Hector Heights overlook. Pretty cool view up there. The raptor is good to go on the green and blue trails. The blacks were a little too hairy for my taste (since I was rolling solo). I am busy on the 30th but would love to go with other raptors sometime.

@bigrig @gryGhst17 @Hemkin57. Would be great to meet up but I have a wedding that I have to go to on 09/30. If you guys go again let me know as I would love to meet up with fellow owners as well.

If anyone knows of any good fire roads in the South Bay/Monterey area that aren't too crazy solo would appreciate the info.

Super old thread but wondering how it went out in Hollister hills with the truck. I used to go driving in the park with my 99 Tacoma, but that was 15 years ago and don't remember if the trails were too tight for a Raptor.

I don't think much has changed in the past 15 years. The trails get narrower the higher you go into the mountains but are definitely doable. If you stress out about brush scratches then you probably won't want to get into the tight stuff. There are a couple of tight turns here and there but again, nothing impossible. I stayed out of the mud pit because I don't love mud and I stayed out of the major obstacle course because it isn't friendly to the long wheelbase. Truck hill is fun and the Raptor does excellent on it with the locker.

It won't be the trip you tell your friends and family about but I still think it is a fun place to get out and play.

Most the trails are bush lined and very tight. I take my rock crawler there quite often as I live bout half hour away. Personally Id never take my Rappy on any of the trails. Can take on the fire roads, but can get busy and be on a blind corner with another truck or SxS running around.
Im not big on pinstripes on my truck, but if it doesn’t bother you, go for it. Plenty of jeeps would love to watch damage to expensive rigs. But over the years its definitely become more suited to tight off-roading, rock crawling.
Id stick to pismo until they close it, and I hear clear creek is back open, or going to be.
