So the Chinese version of the 17 Raptor gets HID lights as standard while we in North America get LEDs. Anyone know if it would be possible to order the Ford OEM HIDs and swap out the LEDs? I would much prefer the HIDs...the LED lights are one of my few complains about the truck.

Really? What is wrong with the LED lights? On all my HID lights, it takes a little while to warm up before full brightness and the beam pattern isn't always good. I am hoping the factory LEDs would work well.

My 14' with the factory HID's were incredible. I wish they had a bit wider spread to the sides but they were great. Perfect cut off lines, super quick warmup and they had really good range. I've heard quite a few complaints about the LED's in the 15'+ F150's. We get the shaft stateside with our BS regulations. A lot of the lights sold on cars overseas blow ours out of the water. I would imagine the HID's in 17' Raptor are legit if they are going overseas. But it could also be a regulatory thing where they didn't want our LED's just like the goofy looking lights they are putting on the roof of the China trucks.

pjones,
The 2017 F150 LED headlights earned a very poor rating.

IIHS: All Pickup-Truck Headlights Are Terrible (Except One Model's)

LED's give off amazing light up close, but as distance increases useable light still pales in comparasin to HID's.
In addition useable light...halogen, HID, LED increases with the increase in reflector surface. The Small furface area of the F-150..(and Raptor) limits the useable light output...

Could not agree more! I also have a 14 and the lights are terrific! We shall see if we can order the Chinese version!!

I would not want led headlights due to the fact they don't put off a lot of heat and will not melt the snow and ice off.

My molten orange 11 screw had regular lights. Sucked.
My black 14 screw had HID's which were great.
My Avalanche grey 17 has LED's an they are way better that any so far. Brighter throw further just better.
