I live in California and ordered from Missouri. My truck is released but has not shipped yet and does not have the CA emissions option. It is an October 17 build. Does anyone know another work around to register in CA because I just read that I will not be able to because it's a 49 state vehicle. Otherwise I have to do another allocation :(
Thank you in advance!

Register it in another state and drive it 7500 miles.

If it's registered in another state, then he can drive it in CA immediately - no need for 7500 miles

From the CA DMV website.

The Bottom Line
If you are a California resident and acquire a new car, truck, or motorcycle from another state, it must be certified to meet California smog laws to be registered in California. This includes certain diesel-powered vehicles. DMV cannot accept an application to register a vehicle in California that does not qualify for registration (California Health and Safety Code §§43150 - 43156).

What Is Considered a New Vehicle?

California considers any vehicle with less than 7,500 miles on the odometer at the time of purchase or trade by a California resident or business, to be a new vehicle. This is true whether or not the vehicle has been registered in another state.

They won't let you register a 49 state vehicle if it is new. You need to register it and drive it 7500 miles to not be new and register in CA.

Give up the allocation. The Dealer would probably gladly mark it up and sell it in MO. Not worth all the trouble and games for CA registration.

I thought all new vehicles were CA emissions compliant. But I guess not. I bought a new car out of state that was, CA compliant. But they were still f***ing ******* to deal with. Not what you want to hear, but either try and work it out with the dealer or just let it go. October is a long way off.

All 2017 F150 ECO 3.5 are CA Emissions, even the ones from the 49 states. If your from CA you can buy one from any state and register it in CA, I Talk to a Tech Specialist at the CA DMV today and confirmed it, CA goes by the emissions sticker only. If you have any questions PM me.

For other green states you need to find out if your state goes by the emissions sticker or the "CO" Certificate of Origin. If its the CO you need to check with that DMV because some have a form to fill out and others wont let you.
