In a previous video they did they got 6.1 0-60 in the raptor vs the 6.7 they got in this video. The other video was a scab vs screw so that would put the weight closer to the standard screw.

Either configuration, they would still be close no matter the configuration. Just glad it’s two fords kicking the competitions butt.

These guys always have weird numbers .... they said we're averaging overall like 13.9 on their gen1 for the life of the vehicle ...... I've never seen that high on my gen 1.... ever

If they are driving at 5k ft, less dense air creates less wind resistance and also reduces output on a normally aspirated engine by about 10%. Less resistance and not being able to go "full throttle" will boost MPG.

These results are a bit surprising; if you calculate the ostensible hp/weight ratios, the Raptor still has an appreciable advantage. You really have to wonder what kind of gas they were running in the Raptor (one supposes the tuned engine is more reliant on high octane gas and Colorado is known for their inferior gas), how broken-in the engines were, actual curb weights, etc, because once they got moving, you would assume the Raptor would start to walk on the F-150.

Perhaps the elevation change also impacts the Raptor more? Interesting results.

It's not just hp/weight ratio. The wheels and tires on the raptor are a lot heavier. And extra lb of rotational mass equates to a lot more than 1lb of sprung weight. I don't remember what the ratio works out to, but it makes a big difference. Add to that the greater rotational resistance of the KO2's vs street tires and its easy to see why the F150 edged out the Raptor.

I also would not be at all surprised if the F150 HP/TQ numbers are under rated. I'll bet if we put the Raptor and a 3.5EB F150 on the Dyno, the numbers will be a lot closer than it looks on paper.

It is my opinion that the whole "unsprung mass" thing has always been a bit exaggerated, as least with regards to acceleration (handling is something else altogether).

They took off 82 pounds and gained a tenth; if you were following the ratios people spout online of 1 unsprung = 5 sprung (I've seen people say 1:10!), you'd expect an equivalent change to reducing 400 pounds, which is just not borne out by their testing. In my experience (I've had about 4 different drag cars through the years), the change in acceleration from lighter wheels and tires is practically negligible on the strip unless you're combining it with other weight reduction or power adders. I checked the weight of the tires on tire rack and the raptor tires weigh 65 pounds vs the Lariat's 39 pounds (no clue on the wheels), so I just can't agree that unsprung weight is a big factor here.

I think you're more on the nose when you suggest that the "regular" ecoboost is underrated; I think the "tuned" ecoboost in the Raptor MIGHT put out those numbers on 93 octane and with a good example of the engine, whereas the numbers on the regular F-150 are more conservative, and so the engines are much closer in power production than Ford claims.

I'm going to see if I can dig up dyno graphs of both engines, I'm very curious about it now.

Pretty simple way to prove your theory right or wrong. Put raptor wheels/tires on a similar truck and see what happens. My money is on the Raptor.
