Differences between 2017 & 2018

Hi all.
This my first of hopefully many more posts.

I’m considering ordering a 2019, but I’m not sure I can wait that long and have thought about maybe buying a lightly used 2017 or 2018.

Can anyone tell me or direct me to what the differences are between the 2017 and 2018 model years?

Mid year and later 18's have a REAL oil drain plug

The cheap paper speakers in the 2017 have Sony badging while the cheap paper speakers in the 2018 have B&O badging.

Also, 2017 can change ambient light colors while the 2018 is fixed, blue I think.

And colors. Avalanche in 2017, Leadfoot in 2018.

Any major mechanical differences?

Anything that was changed due to potential issues they found in the 2017’s?

360 camera button location changed from 17' to 18'.

They don't really disclose any mechanical changes that were made. Someone reported that the oil pan is metal but that was a mid 18 change.

I am pretty sure there is a thread which outlines all of the changes. Do a search and let us know if you can find it, since I cannot at this moment.

The aux and pass through wires switched locations and changed colors from 17 to 18. Big whoop on that.

beyond what was already mentioned....

the crank case ventilation system is different. 18s have a sensor on the line, 17s do not.

The rear axle center section casting on the 18 is slightly different. Differential skids made for 17 and older 9.75s do not fit.

obviously strategy codes, etc are not the same. Tunes are unique. There are some changes to the engine mappings and trans mappings.

if you have a b&o sound system in an 18, a passenger side seat release is pointless, there is pretty much zero room behind the seat.

18s produced after Feb 26, 2018 have a metal oil pan and drain plug.

That's all I can think of right now. There are more small differences.

Basically no big difference. Go with the color you like and the best deal you can find.
