Hello everyone, I am new to fordraptorforum.com but i did own a 2013. I just bought a new 2017 Raptor.

All the dealers close to my hometown of Reno, NV wanted 10K to 20K over MSRP plus a wait time of 12 weeks to have it built and delivered. I found one exactly as i would had built it for $2,500 over MSRP but across the country in Harrisburg , Pennsylvania.

I flew to Harrisburg the next day to buy it and i drove it across the country. I had never been on the east coast except for Florida so i decided to drive to New York city first and spend some time before taking the 2,600 miles trip back home.

I fell in love with my Raptor more and more every mile i drove it.. It feels much better, smoother, faster and more luxurious than my 2013 did. I also managed 14.3mpg with a heavy foot for my first 3k miles. I would do 11-12mpg at best with my 13 raptor. I have 3 other V8's at home so i didn't miss the V8 on the old Raptor. The old raptor would spin out all the time in city driving. This one does not even on rwd mode. In my opinion this new 3.5 twin turbo is much better suited with lower low end power but more mid and top end.

if your Raptor isn’t breaking the rear tires loose at even part throttle, you’re either the slowest driver ever, or something isn’t right with the truck.

I spun out of the dealer parking lot on the sales lady hosted test drive, and several other places along the route. heck, even in 4a the rears will break loose for a short burst as the computer figures out how to get traction.

Sport mode is much more entertaining, did you avail yourself of any of the more fun drive modes?

Congrats! I was going to do the same if I couldnt find a good way to transport it back, but decided to just transport it instead of the drive.

Welcome to FRF. The Raptor is a great cross-country driver.

In July, 2015 we drove from CA up to Rapid City, then Minneapolis over to Green Bay... down to Chicago then cruised Route 66 all the way back to Santa Monica. It was 6300 miles over 12 days.

The following weekend after getting back home another 1000 miles up to Reno for a ROC off-run then back home.

We averaged 15.1MPG over the whole trip. The Gen2 would probably have done better...

I average 15.5 to 16.0 (with the occasional 16.5) in my 2011 GEN1.

THE only economy factor in a high profile, high horsepower, 6000 pound truck designed specifically for high speed off-road travel is the right foot and the maturity of the owner of that foot. Everything else is secondary.

It's physics.
