Odd thing happened today. Started truck and I couldn’t shift out of park. Steering also didn’t work. The P for park flashed on the dash. Turned truck off and on and same thing. Let it idle for a few minutes and eventually it worked. Anyone know what caused this? Maybe I tried shifting as I started the car which it didn’t like? Maybe key was not completely in the truck?

Key not in the truck? You mean the fob was not in your pocket or ??

There was a roll pin recall that could affect shifting. Check owner.ford.com to see if you are affected.

Do you happen to have an aftermarket/dealer alarm accessory installed? One of the ones that requires some chip to be installed in it if you actually decide to pay for them alarm? Usually it’s installed underneath the steering column somewhere, by your knees or where the obd plug in is???
