Default Buying A Raptor vs Building An F-150: Is It Worth It?
From OffRoad Xtreme

Many of us have dreamed about owning a Raptor at some point in our lives. Itís the only production pick-up on the market that can truly do everything. Itís good at pre-running, grocery getting, towing, and whatever else your heart desires, the Raptor is a true do-it-all truck.

But, the Raptor is also too expensive for some of us to own. What if there was a cheaper solution? What if you built an F-150 into the ultimate truck instead of buying a Raptor?

To make this comparison as fair as possible we are going to compare the cost of building a brand new F-150 to a brand new Raptor. Although, if you truly are on a budget a brand new F-150 isnít the truck you should be building upon.

A raptor vs a platnium or a nicely loaded fx4 are pretty much the same price. If you want to modify a bottom end f-150, don't do it to make it a raptor because it will never actually be one; modify it to do what you want it to do. If you want it to be a dessert runner focus on building it do do that. Regardless taking a vehicle and turning it into to something similar to what the raptor can do will end up costing you the same or more, without any warranty (because you voided it). Resale will suck and the parts are not cheap. A raptor at 50-70k really is an amazing price for its capabilites. You can buy a used gen 1 raptor from 2012 with 100k miles for line 30k.
