Anyone Running a Hidden dash cam front and rear?

Just looking for some recommendation on a dash-cam and a radar detector setup that's more or less OEM in appearance.

My dash cam hides behind the mirror and no real cables showing from it, as for the radar, below the mirror in more or less plain sight but it fits in with the surroundings. Only issue with radar is the wire hanging down to the 12v plug

Dash cam is frontal only no rear.

Here ya go! It could be made into something better. But I had to leave my hang tag up there too. Hang tag doesn't block camera at all.

Dash cam wired to stay on until voltage drain detected (which will stay on for a long time (days) after shut down bc of how little it draws)

Radar could look better, and it will soon with a new one! But I liked the positioning a lot. Non intrusive and yet perfectly functional.

I also have a hatred for wires out and about, but I decided to leave the radar wire as is because I change cars sometimes and bring it with me, bothered me for a day or two and then I really just stopped noticing it hanging there.

Hmm. I have a couple long road trips coming up and am about to get a dashcam (Blackvue 650) installed. I was planning to mount in plain sight. Figured it would be a deterrent.

Bad idea?

Nice set up! What brand/model of dashcam is it? Also how do you like the quality of its recording?

There really isn't any way to mount the camera discreetly as the LDW detector housed above the rearview mirror takes up that area. I had them place the camera to the right hand side of the rearview mirror so it doesn't affect my visual space when I'm driving. You can have both front and rear cameras blink with a white LED indicator when parked when it is recording if you wanted it to be visual deterrent.

I have the Blackvue DR650-2CH and I really like it. The camera hides really well by the mirror and the rear camera can't really be seen thru the tinted rear window. The wires are easily tucked away to hide them.

You can turn on or off the flashing LED to show it is recording. One may want to turn it off so it doesn't get stolen or leave it on to show people they are being recorded (or indicate an alarm feature). I leave mine flashing.

The video quality is really good (see attached photo captured from the recorded video). The quality is adjustable, which determines how much (time) you can store on the microSD card. Note: a SanDisk microSD card works fine, so you can pick one up at BestBuy when they go on sale. Another good feature is the ability to connect to the camera real time via wifi, so you can see what's happening around your truck. I don't use the Cloud feature yet.

As for the performance at night, it isn't very good. With headlights on, you can see fine, but when it is dark the image is almost completely black. Hence the new model that has just been introduced, the DR490-2CH which has better night vision. It however drops the GPS feature, which can be added as an external unit.
