Hey guys,

I've been asking on the Gen2 forums about new tires. My KO2 on my 17 Raptor are 50 percent gone at 7000 miles. I've been doing a few too many hard accelerations maybe...

Anyway.... when I replace them I'd like to get a little more aggressive on the tread...

I live in the northeast and drive in the snow and rain. I do light off-road. I do highway.

I've been thinking about the hybrid tires... the Nitto ridge Grappler and the Toyo open country RT....
But I was dissauded because of load E and increased weight 10lbs over stock. Further they aren't snowflake rated....

So I started thinking about the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac... How would these compare to the BFG KO2? More aggressive tread? Wear life? Etc.

The Gen2 guys suggested I check with the veterans who know a thing or two about tires... and I couldn't agree more... you guys have been around the block and know what works and what doesn't...

And yes you can make fun of my Ill-sounding ecoboost as long as you give me some good advice!

Thanks

Guy

I personally run the Duratracs. Here for us in the NE, I wouldn't run any other tire. Unless you have two sets, one for summer and one for winter. For a multi use tire the BFG isn't anywhere close.

I parked my truck last winter and it wont have to see anymore. So when these wear out I will be looking for a more true MT tire. I think I've got at least 25K on this set and they have all of that and then some to go. They obviously are a softer compound than MT tires which makes them better in the cold and snow but may affect their longevity. Especially if you're street racing too fast too furious style like you are.

I think the Duratracs look better too with a more aggressive tread pattern.

Plus Goodyear is American owned and American made. That alone is enough for me to decide between the two. When given a choice I always choose America.

Can you shoot me an up close pic on your truck? Tread and side of the tire... the internet pictures don't do it justice and it's not the same as seeing it on a Raptor.... gen 1... doesn't matter.... looks almost the same to me anyway.

I get that they have 25k of wear.... that is even better. It's a real shot of a real pair of tires that have been driven!

I ran the Duratracs after I wore out my BFGs on my Gen1, when I wore those out I went to the new generation BFG K2s and am really impressed. They got a bunch of testing with our record winter around The Sierras this year, Very quiet smooth ride and much better in snowy and icy conditions as well as dry terrain. I would say the Duratracs are an excellent ice/snow tire though and have a good wear life. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

If you're only going to get 14k miles out of a set of tires, I'd go buy the cheapest tires you can find. Otherwise, chill out a little and get another set of KO2's. They SHOULD last 50k - 60k miles for a normal human being........

Lol

Truth be told if I rotate them every 7500.... I'll get 30,000 out of them. And I do plan to rotate them in a couple weeks.

Some of that excessive wear likely came in the first month of ownership too. I've since settled into it a little bit. I came from a Jeep to a Raptor.... the grunt off the line was pretty exciting for awhile!
