I bought a used 13' raptor. Only has a catback. It had some sorta tune (no tuner box came with the truck), and would not pass smog. for 3,500 miles the 02S. HO2S, and cat monitor wouldn't run. (in califiornia you can only have the evap monitor not ready) I read on here from others that the tune actually caused it to shut down some of the systems in the computer

It shifted hard under heavy acceleration (slamed into gears), when youde come up to a red light and slow down the engine would like rev match, and the throttle kinda blipped between each gear. Engine sounded louder too

The only to fix it was have someone with a factory ford scanner/programmer flash the PCU back to stock. Afterwards it was stock flash the shifting was much smoother under heavy throttle, engine quieted down (I have a magnaflow, and now its actually really quiet) you cant feel it downshifting either when coming to a stop.

I dunno what kinda crappy tune it had.

Who are the good safe tunes that don't F with the smog devices (sensors ect), but will gain some of that power back?

Why settle for generic canned tunes? The biggest reason to choose our tuning is that we are completely independent. We use our own proprietary tuning software and MyCalibrator device for all our tuning. Having our own proprietary tuning software and hardware means that we have more control over what we can and ultimately will do. Our software allows us to have far more access to your ECU, and because we have more access our tuning files are much larger than most. This only shows that more of us goes into our tuning files VS the competition. We routinely invest in test vehicles both pre and post public release to ensure that we are offering the most responsible aftermarket support in the entire industry. There also is not another aftermarket vendor that has the corporate ties VIA their R&D and skunkworks for the big 3 domestic automakers and their performance divisions.

Tuning is easy! Your tuner will arrive to you completely blank, and ready to read info that will give us your factory calibration. You email that info to us, and we build you your tunes. When they are built we provide you with an app to download to your PC. This app will allow you to connect to our secured remote tuning server. All that you have to do is click "Update Tuner", and that will send us your factory calibration. Once we get that info to our calibration department we will have your custom tuning files ready for you in 24-48 hours. Whenever your tunes are ready to put onto your handheld we will email you letting you know that you can plug your tuner back into your PC and update the tuner again. After that, just load your tune onto your car and have fun!

Anybody running this tune? Looking for some of the latest input on tunes and tuners, but there's a few questions on here that have gone unanswered. Does anyone actually still own GEN 1's on here?

SCT x4 tuner and JDM or SVC are excellent tunes. I have just rx the JDM tune but still haven't try it out. Just been to dam cold lately to play with the truck. There are many reviews on the forum on different tunes.

Thanks for the feedback! I read up extensively on SVC and 5* tunes a few years ago. There was quite a lengthy write up on here about it. But things change over the years. SVC releases revised tunes from time to time and new (to me, at least) vendors enter the tuning market, such as JDM and Livernois.

Livernois claims to have thier own software capable of accessing more of the PCM. That sounds good on the surface, but what does this additional access give you? And did they really reverse engineer more PCM firmware? I'm in the software and embedded device business myself, and software reversing is neither cheap nor legal. Have to think the OEM releases an API for the SW devs to hack on and company's like Livernois license it. And I suspect there is not much diversity in that market, meaning Livernois probably has pretty much that same tuning options, where it counts anyway--with maybe just enough what we software hacks call "syntactic sugar" thrown it to call it their own.

Anyway, just trying to see what's new under the sun. About to slap on some 37s and will need a programmer to recal the speedo, so might as well get a tune while I'm at it. Leaning toward 5* given the ability to have multiple tunes supporting various octane and driving applications. That and they are located in Florence, SC--which is just 2 hrs up the road from me in Charleston, SC (not sure why that ultimately matters; dyno time is certainly not included in the tune package).

I went with SVC about 4 years ago and have also gone thru NJ State Inspection

And you can make changes to timing to accommodate octane &
I think tire/wheel diameter
And they will mod their tune to your mods

Hi Guys,

I bought my 2011 6.2 that had a custom dyno tune done, but the tuner that he used was lost. I think* that the o2 sensors are turned off because i can't complete a drive cycle for emissions. I'm wondering if I have should have the ford dealer flash it back to stock, and than buy a new tuner or if i should just buy a tuner and do it myself. I don't know alot about tuners. Any info help is appreciated

I believe that typically you should flash back to stock, then re-tune. I'm working with JDM out of NJ and because my 2011 was previously tuned with an SCT device, they are telling me I do not have to flash back to stock...I can just re-Tune..as long as I use another SCT tuner (which I purchased their tune with the SCT X4). JDM gets great reviews but yesterday marks 6 weeks since I ordered from them and nothing yet. I have called weekly and they are well aware that my truck is undrivable without their tune right now... patience is starting to run out quickly at this point...considering I could have gotten an SVC tune in 48 hrs....

Late to reply, to say the least, BUT you can’t beat livernois. Dan has more “ins” at FOMOCO and they actually do testing and work for ford. They are CONSTANTLY the first to crack ALL the new software. That’s not by accident either. Why did they create their OWN tuner? Why on earth would someone do that?!?! They could have just used sct or another handheld readily available????? Tons of money to develop their own tuning software and device???
other do not compare. I’m any way shape or form. Lead, don’t follow.

Just bought the SCT X4 Tuner & 5-Star Custom Tunes from Stage 3 Motorsports, waiting for it to ship and install.

My Raptor does not have any power mods but I am planning to do some so the lifetime tunes is really good for me.
