Watch A Ford 6.2 Boss Engine Which Now Measures 460ci Scream At 8,500 RPM And Make 800hp!

boss-engine.png Ford’s 6.2L “Boss” family engine was launched to compete head to head with the GM LS engine of the same displacement and the late model Hemi that Chrysler puts on their trucks. Using two valves per hole, single overhead cams, a beefy iron block, and cylinder heads that are pretty gnarly stock, but downright awesome when modified, the engine is capable of really making some power. People have not been messing with these as much as they have been other Ford engines to this point, but having driven a couple full size trucks equipped with this mill, we like it. Knowing that it can be stretched to 460ci makes this motor even more appealing to us now!
It was the guys at Roush performance that performed the bore and stroke job on the 6.2L engine before ending up with 460ci. They built the engine in this video to live in a desert racing truck, so durability was key. Knowing that, it should be even more impressive that the big motor is happy at 8,500 RPM! The sounds that this mill makes on the way to 8,500 and when it gets there are fantastic.
The 6.2L “Boss” engine seems a little like the lost sister in this age of powerful factory gas truck motors that hot rodders are scouring junkyards for, but it won’t be long until they become more popular when this type of power potential is exploited! How about a turbo or two on top of this mill? 1,000 hp would happen falling out of bed!
Thanks for the tip Ed!

Didn't @Biggest bore out his 6.2 and have that kind of HP, enough to pull the front tires off the ground at take off?

Wonder how his compares
