I was just curious, at what power levels does the tranny need to be upgradeed or totally changed out?

I thought the '80 referred to being able to withstand 800lb-ft of torque?The train is the 6r80. Which means it has 6 gears plus reverse and should stand up to 800 hp

yea they said the same thing with the 4R100... but I have seen them ripped out before with a 7.3L making less than 800 ft/lb of TQ

And Lightnings destroy 4R100s at about 700ft/lb of tq. When they rate a transmissions it based on the max torque multiplication in the trans not at the wheels in direct drive.
