Just keep the SCT programmer with you at all times, I do. If someone steals it, they can't use it if you report it stolen.
But I've never had to change because of bad gas (91 or 93), the PCM is quite robust in that aspect with removing timing. As long as the Tune is good.

So you think I'm just being to cautious? And I shouldn't worry about it?

Have you figured this out? Exactly what I experienced recently... SVC 91 tune. Temperature doesn't matter in my case, pinging like diesel in 5th and 6th gear.

Restored stock tune today, pining gone. I have had this tune for over a year, only started pinging 1~2 months ago.

Just wondering... i have a svt 91 tune and during the hotter months we have now i hear pinging pretty often during light throttle after a shift up when there is light load on the motor. It goes away when it down shifts. Is this odd or something to worry about?

Have you updated the Tune to ver.2 ?

Give SVC a call.

Remove some Global Spark. See if that takes care of it.
Going back to stock removes quite a bit of Global Spark.
Not to mention shifting is going to suck again.

You could have something else going on which is not up to par.
Dirty Air Mass Flow sensor, one of the four O2 sensors weak, clogged Cat or cats.

Clean MAF sensor at least. Should be doing that twice a year anyway, more if you do a lot of off-roading.

Will try when back from dealer... yes, stock shifting sucks
