I've been searching on here and just about everywhere else for someone that has done mid mount turbo setup. Has there ever been one made? I'm going to do it.

Never seen it done. Generally doesn't seem like a good idea for an offroad truck.

Bolting on a Whipple is the fast/easy way to a proven and reliable truck pushing close to 600 RWHP.

Just doesn't seem worth trying to break new ground at this point.

I understand it sits in a place that is susceptible to damage in certain conditions, however, I use my truck 99.99% of the time on roads that would not introduce any issues. I am not sliding across rocks in Moab, fender deep in mud, or....well those are the only 2 instances I can think of that would cause concern..lol.. The turbo will be tucked up and inside the frame where it will be nicely protected.

Yes, bolting on a whipple is the fast/easy way...but thats not my style. Im more of a "built not bought" person. And, I dont want to shell out the 10K price tag that comes with the whipple. Plus, the turbo should experience very little to zero loss in gas mileage. I am guessing it will actually help. Especially when towing my camper. Those superchargers are just so parasitic for a daily driver. The turbo should be good for well over 600whp but I am going to limit it to around 550whp at this time.

I have designed and sell supercharger kits to the 370z and G37 guys for the VQ37VHR family of motors/platforms. I am guessing that this 6.2L platform could use a cheaper option of forced induction. Who knows, maybe some guys will be interested in me cloning my kit for them in the future. That is how my SC business started and that kit is on over 75 vehicles now.

I just don't see where you are going to put it where it won't be subject to getting rocks/debris thrown up at it. You wouldn't even be able to go down a gravel road safely anymore. You could put a skid plate over it but then you're going to trap all the heat.

I agree 100% with the comment on parasitic losses. The hellion turbo trucks typically make about the same horsepower we do but with lower boost and ~100 ft/lbs more torque.

You're not the first person to build their own turbo kit, by the way. Several others have done it. They always go radio silent. My guess is they just can't get the tuning sorted.

Tuning has been a problem for most of the Hellion trucks, as well.

Just my two cents (the market value of which is precisely zero): it's a cool idea but it's just going to be more trouble than it's worth.

Im not worried about rocks/debris. The turbo is much stronger then say an exhaust and nobody worries about that getting damaged. A turbo's castings are several times thicker than exhaust wall. There are lots of mid-mount setups out there on various other platforms and I have never heard of an issue with road matter causing problems.

What has been the feedback as to why the tuning is such a problem? There are 3 supercharger options (procharger, whipple, rousch) that have been tuned to perform well with hundreds of trucks running these on the street. I wonder what is so different about hellion kits that cause tuning difficulties? As long as the MAF is reading things right I am unsure how it can be so difficult.

I would suggest you do a search on here to find some of the Hellion guys to talk to. They would be far better able than I am to discuss details.

Would anyone know where to find a 3.5" to 3" exhaust ball flange? Would like to avoid a weld if possible.

How would you even supply cold air?

I suggest you listen to Truckzor, research the three or four Raptors that tried Turbos.
Torque management with the 6 speed tranny is the main reason for turbos not working well on the 6.2L Raptors.
Procharger has issues as well and does not deliver power well, I don't even think it hits 450 rwhp.
