I just got the iTSX tuner today from Freedom Motorsports with five of the 5 Star Tunes. Never used a tuner before on any previous vehicles I owned but this Raptor is special. Being in the IT field and reading some other forums and reviews, people talked about updating the dongle before tuning. Makes sense, lot of things are purchased with out of date firmware.
I went to SCT website and downloaded the Updater Software, easy enough. Installed without issues. It's actually two installs in one. First one installs the software and the other which starts kinda half-way through the first are the USB drivers. Installs perfectly, no errors.
Plug the dongle into the computer with the supplied USB cable, computer recognizes it (hear the USB noise) and start up the Device Updater software, errors that it can't find the tuner. Start troubleshooting; Looking at USB and see that SCT MB103 can't install the drivers properly. I go through the software repair, runas administrator, run from an elevated command prompt, uninstall/reinstall a couple times, reboot. Nothing is working. Material that came with the tuner and even the 5 star tuning hand out had no useful information. Google it and not finding too much right off the bat (not searching for the right key words). Call SCT support line, holding for 10 minutes while still researching. Found the solution and hung up on SCT before they answered.
Have to update the driver manually and download the correct drivers. No where to be found on SCT website under tech support. Once I got the drivers loaded, the software worked and found out the dongle was up-to-date. Well that's good and tuned my truck.
Thought I would post here for others.
I have Windows 8.1 and an iPhone 5.
Manual on 5 Star's site: http://www.5startuning.com/wp-content/uploads/iTSX-User-Manual.pdf
Manual on SCT's site, looks newer: http://www.sctflash.com/PDF/iTSXUserManual_Rev2.pdf
Drivers needed for manual install: http://www.5startuning.com/wp-content/uploads/Windows-8.1-Drivers-How-to.pdf
Look on Step 3.
Hope this might help others.
