Question. These both say they are five inches deep, with or without the fans. Is the widest part something wider than the fans?

What options do you have as far as operating these? Is there any sort of thermostat? Perfect world I'd like to be able to turn them on/off manually as well as let them run off of a thermostat and possibly even have a sending unit to monitor water temp.
