Mine is not a true snorkel in the real water crossing sense but I am drawing my intake air form a few inches from the SVT vent on the drivers side... I bet ya I can go through higher water puddle that most everyone else can...

This is looking through the SVT vent

I would put a screen on the end of that pipe, just to keep from sucking in any of the neighborhood kids :)

Ive been in water almost up to my door handles...all good

lol i havent hit the door handles yet (it would make me nervous with the old volant i have) but i have gotten it about 4in past the door line (behind the bow wake) which meant the bottom of the motor was dealing with rushing water.

The nice thing was this ended up getting all the mudd off my skid plate from when i got stuck (a power washer couldnt get it all out).

:)
