Raptor 6.2 vs f250 6.2

I wanna know the differences between the raptor 6.2 and the f250 6.2. I wanna swap a 6.2 motor in my 1973 f250 but I want to know which one better for racing.

Some differences that I know of are that the Raptor cams, injectors and tuning. The Super Duty 6.2 is capable of running on E-85 and the F-150 version is not.

As far as which to use, I guess it would depend on how much of the engine you plan to change. If you are going to change cams, it probably wouldn't matter which one you started with.
@Livernois Motorsports can likely answer more detailed questions.

I'm not sure this is a good idea. One of the few things I don't like about my truck is the lack of aftermarket support for the 6.2. It currently costs ~$20k to build a 6.6 liter (that's only 21 more cubic inches, a measly 5.5% increase). And on the forced induction side, we have both the roush and the whipple guys making great power, but they are all clamoring for an 8 rib drive system and nobody seems to be listening.

When you have all the options in the world, why pick the one that is the most complicated? I'd pick a Ford or Roush crate big block. Or a Mustang engine with a more robust aftermarket. Better yet, swap in an LSx.

I'd stay away from the 6.2 until a larger or more reasonably priced stroker option comes along. Or until whipple gives us a kit based on their 4.5 liter blower with an 8 rib drive system.

Just my opinion.

I know the 6.2 is not the best motor to build for racing but I wanna do something that's not common. Like doing an ls swap ( I would never do an ls swap, hard core Ford guy) or a coyote swap. I'm just really shooting for 800 to 1000 hp nothing to big.

Just to clear that statement up.

Can't speak for the Roush guys but for the Whipple the 6 rib is just fine for 700 to 750 HP with a proper Tune.
But when you start going for more HP and going to an even smaller SC pulley yes, you will start running into belt slippage.
Now, would I like to have an 8 rib pulley system sure why not it certainly couldn't hurt.
Even NA Raptors throw belts from time to time when off-roading hard, 8 rib would certainly help with that too.

8 rib is a wider serpentine drive belt, it is 6 rib (or grooves) from the factory. I was having some issues with my ProCharged Raptor and was looking for options on the 8 rib, and now seem to have the bugs out of it using the 6 now.
