It clicked to 0 miles to E as soon as I pulled into the gas station.

Normally I never let my vehicles get THAT low, but I knew it had enough to get me there, it's cold outside so I wasn't worried about the pump overheating with low fuel, and being a returnless style system, the fuel heats up less, and being a brand new truck, there's not much crap in the tank yet (especially since these trucks don't have a fuel filter after the pump), so I pushed it to hit zero miles to E just to see how accurate it was. 2 gal left lol. I'm sure 2 gal spread across the bottom of a 36 gal tank is barely covering the fuel pickup though haha. I won't be doing it again on purpose.

not sure, that was back in October, I was actually driving to El Paso to trade my 2010 5.4 for a 2011 6.2 - didn't work out, so now I'm getting a 2012 next week I special ordered!

I'm def. no expert, but I would think the difference between gauge reading of E and the tank actually being empty, is a safety or fudge factor built in.

I've got only 5200 miles on my raptor so far but I've noticed the following:

1) Gauge w/ needle is not that accurate. Today I looked down at the dash and the gauge is exactly on 1/2 tank. From Trip "A" which I reset at last fill up,Fuel used is 16.2 .

2) When tank is low and truck is on hill, gauge goes a little screwy. I was at about 1/8 tank by gauge, parked in a buddy's driveway that may be 15-20 degree incline. When I pulled out of driveway and was level, for the next 5-10 minutes I was getting the Empty warning on dash, and then all of a sudden, it went back to 1/8 tank.

I try to not let tank get below 1/4.

Why would anyone buy a house on a 20 degree incline? That's almost a 40% gradient.

after comming home from Florida and driving almost 19 hours straight, i just wanted to get home and get to sleep. pulled into my driveway showing 6 miles to empty (didnt care, i have 6 or 7 gas stations less than 1 mile from my house, 2 of them mere blocks away). even drove it when i got up to burger king drive thru and then next day went to the gas station, and i think i took about 33 gallons (give or take 1/2).

but yeah with how long the tank is, and since its not sucking gas right from the bottom, your gonna have a little variance.


and humvee, sometimes its what needs to be done. havent you seen my driveway?

I ran out of gas 1km out of town in my 2010 just before trading up to the 2012. It hit zero and less than 1km later it was out of gas. Last time I test the "fudge" factor.

Well, I just find it ridiculous to have an almost 40% grade driveway. My neighbor's driveway is probably about 45% grade and his Lexus's bumper gets scratched from it every time he goes in/out of the house.
