Exactly I'd say yes too but the corvette has had its model year update pushed back from 2012 to 2013 to 2014 now, and it was a "known fact" for 2012. It was also supposed to be mid engine but that has been axed as well.

Thats my guess too, 2015 model redesign, introduced early 2014. Going by the direction they have taken the entire Ford lineup in the past few years I think we are in for a seriously BadAss new model !

Can someone explain what is the rationale behind this theory? Is this purely speculation or was there some kind of information that I missed?

there is nothing more than speculation at this point. if it was a known fact, we would have 20 threads about it like we do the minor changes for 2013.

Its just common knowledge. Every truck manufacturer has a model change every 5-6 years.

I heard the 2014 was supposed to be the redesign release...
they're trying all kinds of tricks to shave lbs.., they were even kicking around the idea of an all aluminum chassis, thankfully, that idea was scrapped...
they are however, retooling for all-aluminum body panels...you can expect to see more use of mag also...
