Do all of your hood wraps cover the front facing edge of the hood to the top of the grille, and also if a guy has lots of chips, do they need to be sanded and filled prior to installing a wrap?

I wouldn't fill the chips ahead of the install. When you remove the wrap it could peel them off. I would install over the chips.
You'll be the only one that will know. If you look real close you might see a small indent in the wrap at that location. But it's pretty minor. Heck, you can also see, or all least feel, where there is dirt and bug guts under the wrap of you don't clean it well enough before the install.

Yes unless someone asks me to send them a short hood , all of my hoods extend downward. In my experience the vinyl does a really good job at hiding most rock chips. Some of the larger ones may show their shape underneath but not as noticeable with out the wrap. I hope this helps with your decision. I wouldn't reccomend sanding them down. Vinyl does wonders.
