At SEMA I talked to a vendor that specified in push button start about this. It is the factory button and fob and only cost around $300 to do. It would be harder but you could remove the key insert and put the button there.

Idt anyone considers it a necessity but it is def a nice feature. With push button start usually comes some other luxury features. I never take my key fob out of my pocket. Walk up to my car and put my fingers in the handle and it unlocks. I get it, push the button, it starts and I go. When I'm done I get out and hit the button on the outside and it sets the alarm while locking the doors. All without every pulling the key fob out. Not a huge pain in the ass but it is kind of nice.
