In the US you can get pulled over and if the officer is a hard ass will not allow your vehicle to be driven (if at night) until a DOT light is installed. Just a FYI here..

This'll be my second hid kit on this truck because my other one blew out but almost every lifted truck and all the ricers have HIDs so ill be okay

often times it depends on color if its legal or not. altho to be correct even putting a silverstar bulb in is not legal based on DOT specs as it did not come stock. but there is no laws or bylaws that im aware of to stop someone from having hids. most people buy 6000k or 8000k when you get into the 15k or pure colors like red pink or blue or even green then your gonna get slammed with a ticket. and for good reason besides lookin like a clown
