My blend door actuator on my 2012 quit on me the other day :mad: and it's getting cold out. I only have cold air on the drivers side. Passenger side is nice and hot.

Ford wants $1200-1500 here to replace so F that.

I went to order the part and there are several part numbers:

MOTORCRAFT # YH1881 {#8L8Z19E616C} HVAC Mode Door Actuator
w/ Manual or Dual Zone Auto Temp A/C

MOTORCRAFT # YH1777 {#AL3Z19E616A} Temperature Blend Door

MOTORCRAFT # YH1770 {#AL8Z19E616F}
w/ Manual or Dual Zone Auto Temp A/C

Anyone know the part number I need? I searched but didn't find my answer. I have dual zone with auto temp button so I think it's the first one but was hoping to confirm before I spend the $30 bucks.

Thanks.

Mine hasn't quit, it is still making a 'knocking' sound when I turn the truck on. I was quoted $800 at my local shop for the left actuator ($150 for the part and 6-7 hours labor). $1200-$1500 at the dealer....give me a break!

Yeah welcome to Canada where everything is overpriced. That's why the bill to have Ford do it is so high.

I can buy the genuine Ford part from Tasca or RockAuto for $30 bucks but getting to it to change it out will be a bitch. Hence why I want to make sure I have the proper part before starting.

I used to hear mine on start up but now I hear nothing at all...

Any help would be appreciated. I know I'm not the first one out there to do this...lol.

How did the install go?

I had the driver side go out a few weeks back. Luckily covered under warranty.

I just got mine back from the dealer today.......$752.00 total! It is a big job and I am glad I did not decide to tackle it! No squeaks, no rattles so I feel that the job was done right.

So I was able to replace the driver’s side blend door actuator. It took around 7 hours but I spent about 2 hours trying to figure out a few things when it came to getting the lower duct work out and sometime reconfiguring my parents wireless router (yeah just completely random event) so maybe 4-5 hours total to do (if I had to do it again and since I put the same Ford shit in again I’m sure I will be). I didn't have to pull the dash to easily access the actuator.

First, I pulled out the center console, shifter, amp and front brace. There’s a little tab on the shifter selector cable that you have to push that holds the cable in the plastic slot of the transmission shift lever housing and then use a thin wrench to pop the cable off the shifter. Once that’s done there are just some electrical connectors to disconnect.
