Can you tell me pros & cons of exhaust tip locations or is it just personal preference. I do take it offroad, sand, dirt, rocks. It will be true dual. Options, of course, are: lightening style - in front of passenger rear tire, factory - behind rear tire, or under the rear bumper? Any opinions & advice will be appreciated. TIA

Any of the spots are prone to getting smashed. Sound will be a factor between lightning and stock exit or rear exit. Go with what you like

If you are worried about banging it up then go with a turn down or dump it over the rear axle.

If you go lightning style, and off-road, be sure that the exhaust shop adds am additional support to keep it from rotating and falling down.

Also behind this can like that will be louder.

Stock exit isn't bad. Out the back looks good, but limits the rear exit angle quite a bit. Plus if you ever go with an aftermarket bumper it may not look right.

Just like Yukon stated, an additional hanger for support is needed! Here is a picture of the Dirty Deeds lightning style exhaust with the additional mounting point towards the end of the tail pipe.

Unless you do a tuck it up high or do a turndown it's only a matter of time before you crush the tips off road. If you're ok with replacing them then go for it.

I have an exhaust on my FJ that used to exit under the rear bumper that was squished too many times to count. Got sick of it and hacked it off up high under the cargo area and added a clamp-on turn down. Much better now.
