hey guys
I purchased a set of complete kooks headers with true duel exhaust from TeamJDM, and at less than 7-8k kilometers the welds that hold the link to the exhaust broke.:supergay:

first, the passenger side broke with very light off roading nothing insane in fact i have a video of the run which the exhaust broke (does not show it breaking). when it broke it took a bit of the exhaust of with it. i got it welded in less than an hour thanks to nearby garage.
Here is the link to the video
https://youtu.be/219T1uco4bE

about a week later another weld broke on the other side whilst i was not off roading and it took quite a big chunk of exhaust with it, now i know i can just go and get it welded for 20 bucks but thats not the issue here. the exhaust is going to leak and break open again i payed for the best and the more highly priced exhausts on the market so that i wouldn't have to do this.

i am honestly disappointed with kooks, this is not the level of quality that i'd expect from such a reputable company like kooks.

Now the issue is that kooks warranty requires me to mail them the exhaust, only a few issues. used car parts wont go through immigration so when they mail it back i wont be able to accept it. another issue is i live in qatar, about 7000 km away :flipthebird: and the shipping alone is going to be way more expensive then the repair it wouldn't make sense for me to do that, actually i would just ship the entire system and have them keep it and id switch to stainless works :baby:

I have just sent them an email regarding this issue and i am waiting for a reply, i'll keep updating the thread on what happened.

p.s i bought the system from TeamJDM and received it in pristine condition they play no part to blame in this.

This is concerning as I have a set of Kooks coming from Maryland speed. Has this happened to anyone else?

I completely understand why we like to buy the best so we don't have to go through the crap of warranty. Warranty is great but wouldn't it be that much better if you didn't have to use it because the quality is outstanding?

My Ford Racing exhaust did the same thing on the last hanger and took part of the exhaust with it. Now, I did take it off-road and would admit that I most likely dragged the tailpipe. But I contacted the vendor who sold it to me and they got Ford Racing involved and I was sent a brand new replacement tailpipe with overnight shipping for free. Just had to send them pictures. Never had to send the broken one back.

Perhaps you might try getting JDM involved and see if Kook will ship you a replacement on kook's dime. Doesn't hurt to ask and be persistent.

You have a good point there. I think I will contact TeamJDM and see what happens

crappy thing with headers is the amount of time or the $ involved with installing them. Absolutely something I only want to do once. Like you said, the reason I spent the extra money on kooks

Ouch. I've been contemplating the same thing. As far as I can tell, the performance isn't effected regardless of the brand in a noticeable way. I've been thinking of paying extra to get the Kooks, but if the quality is the same or less, I'll save a few bucks and get the better quality. Lol

They replied and basically told me to screw myself
They blame the installation even though it was done by one of the best garages in the country that's even sponsored by whipple.
I won't argue it's a few hundred bucks anyway but it's the principle that matters and they lost a customer.

I'm not going to bash a dealer, if people choose to go with kooks then good for them but I'm not going to lie and say I don't feel cheated.

Correct me if I am wrong here but is it not using the factory hangers except for the one on the drivers side? And the hanger part that attaches to the exhaust, is the factory kooks hooks? It looks like it all clamps together using their clamps?

So how is the exhaust installed incorrectly? Yeah I haven't considered anything kooks yet but I would never consider them based off this ********. The least they should of done is reimburse you for getting it fixed and doesn't even count the time you wasted.
