I'm still thinking pulling them out, cleaning off the rtv and doing it over and adding the oem gaskets and bolts. Can't hurt.

The PCM will see exhaust leaks at the header flange as a lean condition and over fuel as a result. Gaskets for the win...

I removed them, cleaned off the rtv, added factory gaskets plus rtv and used stage 8 header bolts 2nd time around. Started her up...no smell, a little smoke...but seemed to be oil burning from the dipstick being pulled. Seems like they're tight...no gas smell inside or outside the truck. Don't gave have a tune and got a cel almost immediately which I didn't get before referring to the rear 02 sensor. The truck also seems much quieter near the engine bay which was not the case before. So...fingers crossed I think i got it all nicely tightened up.

I'm surprised everyone needed a tune for these header just so the engine light wouldn't come on. I unplugged the battery before the install and it was unplugged for 2 days. Maybe it did a complete reset? No lights for about a month of driving it around hard and never saw a light. O well. Glad to hear you did gaskets and rtv. Should be good to go.

Mine never came on and I don't have cats. The tune was off when it was delivered to me and that was an 800 mile trip. They told the guy it might come on but he said it never did.

first time around, no lights, drove about 200 miles, second time around, got a CEL within 5 miles of driving same as you Nick. I'm waiting on my 5* tunes, ordered yesterday. I am looking into a few things to change the exhaust tone a bit, as much as I love it, the wife, baby and neighbors are not too fond...i was thinking about y piping it, and adding the borla / ford racing touring exhaust. problem i'm having is finding a notched 3" y pipe since I'd prefer not to weld (i know, it's better to weld) in case i again change my mind. i'm thinking that with the y pipe i should be able to bolt it right on, but not 100% sure.
