Dumb Exhaust to ease my mind...

So I purchased a MBRP single down turn. Had it on for about a day..Ugh the drone. Anyways I cut the tails off my stock exhaust and now that its back on with turn downs. One turn down just misses the axle tube with exhaust gas. I took it for a ride and that tube was warm when I got back. Should I be worried about cooking the fluid on long trips while I get a res put on the new exhaust?
