After reading a lot of posts and watching a lot of vids, I think I want res deleted with a turndown config. I think I've narrowed it down between the MBRP cat-back or the Black Widow Race Venom. I want something louder and more aggressive than stock while having a deep growl. I need an exhaust sound that matches the looks.

I have the MBRP turndown with resonator delete, love it!

Black widow mufflers do sound good but that is all they sell, no complete cat-back. You will have to go to a shop and have them do custom work.

I chose the MBRP as I did it in the driveway in about 30mins.

I chose MBRP in your poll. Although, I technically have the MBRP turndown WITH resonator. I love it. There's some drone at certain speeds, but pretty tame at light throttle and can still hold a conversation at highway speeds (75-85 mph). Sounds like a trophy truck at WOT. Super easy install and you'll be thankful about the more compact exhaust if you ever install a bump stop kit or do any work around the rear axle area.

I have the MBRP with Kooks headers and green cats (and a whipple). It's got a decent amount of drone in a narrow RPM range (maybe 1600-1800 but I'm guessing because I haven't had my truck out on the highway in a while). You can drive around it but it gets annoying. I agree that it sounds like a trophy truck at WOT. With the windows down, especially. People will know you're coming.

I'm probably going to get a custom true dual system built in the near term. Design will be similar to the MBRP. Just going to swap my Y for an X and then run two pipes instead of one. I'm hoping I can keep 90% of the trophy truck scream and ditch 90% of the drone.

We'll see.

@Truckzor Thought of getting a Helmholtz resonator and switching to a lightning style exit? I feel that a lot of the issue is simply sound waves bouncing off the ground towards the bed and cab. An appropriate resonator would also shift the drone RPM range out of your preferred driving range. I enjoy everything overall, but I'd guess headers amplify the positives and the negatives of the exhaust. BTW, love your truck and hope to copy some of your mods one day.

Thank you for the kind words. Feel free to reach out at any time if you want to discuss any of the things I've done to my truck. It wouldn't have been possible for me to build it without a lot of ideas/advice/assistance from other guys on this forum so I'd be more than happy to return the favor.

I suspect you are correct about the lightning exit getting rid of most of the drone. I really like that style of exhaust I was just hung up on the idea of ground clearance and stuff getting kicked up into the pipes in that location when I went with the MBRP.

I have a couple very long road trips planned soon, though. So really need to have no drone. The truck is going in for another round of work in the next few weeks. The guys doing the work have built custom exhaust for Raptors before so I'll see what ideas they have. I definitely don't want to lose the trophy truck sound, either.

Will post updates both in my build thread and the relevant forums when the times comes.

By the way, I installed those Built Right Indusries rear seat releases a few weeks ago. Stuffed some sound insulating foam from Amazon behind the rear seats while I was back there. Made a noticeable improvement with the drone.

I had the MBRP turndown for about 7-8 months before it started rattling uncontrollably. Ended up cutting it up and sticking a race venom in place of the shot out mbrp "muffler".

That custom work is 1 cut(remove resonator) weld in 3-4' of tubing add the muffler and turn down. Most shops charge $80-100 for this work, so you'll be $250'ish into it. Whats the MBRP run you?
