Default The latest Lockpick install
So I was a bit nervous about installing my Lockpick in my 2011 Screw after reading the threads. For the record, it was easy to install and everything works as it is supposed to. I had read that some owners were having problems with the GPS but I hooked it up using the shortcut install found in the forum and the GPS seems to be working normally.

Just thought some folks might be interested.

Now I can't remember where I found it. The install procedure from the manufacturer tears apart the whole interior. The method I used is as follows

THIS IS GOING TO SOUND WORSE THAN IT REALLY IS BECAUSE I'M NOT USING PICTURES SO I'M AM BEING VERY DESCRIPTIVE. THE WHOLE OPERATION TOOK ME ABOUT 25 MINUTES TOTAL.

- First, set the E brake because you will be moving the shifter around with the car off. Also, put a DVD in. You may want it in later for testing purposes and by the the buttons will be removed.

- Put both seats all the way forward and remove the the two screws at the bottom rear of the center console.

- Remove the Aux switch panel by wiggling it around and pop off the connectors

- Remove the small trim piece below the USB and lighter. Its hard to see. Can be done by pushing fingers in a pushing downward toward the center console.

-Now we are going to remove the Center Console cover. This is the large panel the includes the cup holders and Shifter plate all the way down the sides. Turn the key so that you can move the shifter back. The E brake should already be set. Grab hold and wiggle, it will pop loose. Set it aside.

-Now remove the 2 bolts you see that were below the Aux switch panel (same size as before).

- With your hand, pull off the lower plastic center console panel that runs from next to the gas pedal to the divers seat along the carpet. Repeat this on the other side. This exposes another bolt on each side (same size again). Remove these to bolts. This should now disconnect your Center Console completely.

- With a firm motion, move the WHOLE CENTER CONSOLE a FEW INCHES backward toward the back seat. It's OK, you are not going to break anything.

- Pop out the Sync USB plate be pushing on it from behind. Might take a second but it should pop free. Disconnect the plugs and set it aside.

- Now there is a silver trim panel on each side of the entertainment center. We want to remove the bolt at the bottom of each piece. This is why we had to move the center console, to access these bolts. They are a smaller size socket than before, all the remaining bolts will be this smaller size ( I forget what size, I'm typing this at work). Anyway, take them out. DO NOT REMOVE THE TRIM PIECE YET.

- There are 3 bolts that hold on the cover for the entertainment unit. One is next to the lighter where we popped the Sync USB and there are two more at the top. To access the top ones, remove the small rubber pad by hand. It should slide right out and you will see the bolts. Take them out.

- Now, starting from the bottom, pull away the two silver trim pieces. DO NOT PULL THEM ALL THE WAY OFF. We are just making enough room to take out the center piece.

- Remove the center piece from the top down, pulling out the necessary plugs.

- SIDE NOTE: The plugs you are pulling are all different so don't worry about getting them confused. Just don't lose any while reassembling. I almost stuffed the emergency flasher wire behind the stereo.

- SIDE NOTE Cover the interior and bare center console with white towels. First to protect your leather while you're throwing tools and parts around. Second, all the hardware you are removing is black. If you drop something, it's way easier to find on a white towel.

- OK, now you see the guts of the Nav and stereo. There are 8 more bolts that hold these two pieces in. Remove them all but be careful not to lose any as they may fall into the center console, never to be seen again. Also, go slow so you don't slip and damage your Nav screen. That would suck to smack it with a wrench.

-After the last 8 bolts are out, carefully pull out the screen. Remove the 2 plugs. Set it aside in a safe place.

- Now pull out the stereo brain (as I call it). Wire it up as directed by the manufacturer, it's pretty easy. Remember to connect the USB cable included with your Lockpick and drop the end down either the driver or passenger side. This is how you have access later to update your Lockpick. There are some that do creative stuff to access this cable but just make sure it's there.

- After it connections are made, slide the brain back into place. There is plenty of room on top of the brain for the Lockpick unit and wires so no need to try to stuff them somewhere. Carefully replace the screen and don't forget the plugs. Again, it can be tricky putting the bolts back into the screen and stereo so use caution.

- At this time test that your install work as it is suppose to. Do this before putting everything back together.

- If everything works then put it all back together in reverse order.

I also installed a Lockpick in my 2011 SCab this past weekend. All features are working as advertised, VIM, backup camera, Sirius TavelLink and NAV.

Install is not nearly as difficult as you might think. In fact, there is no need to slide the passenger side airbag module out of the way. You can simply lift the right side trim panel up and remove the NAV faceplate.

The issue with the GPS antenna has also been resolved. You have the option of programming the GPS interrupt as part of the setup or leave it as a pass-through connection (leave it as a pass-through). I also did not have any issues with my factory backup camera, so that issue also appears to have been resolved.

The 60 second window to enter a destination on the NAV is a bit tight. It would be nice to have another 30 seconds at least.

What does "Lockpick" do? Where do you get it? How do you install? How much does it cost?

It does the same things as Allsync made by Nav-Tv (one of FRF's vendors).
It allows you to watch DVD's in motion, use any Nav-Screen feature in motion, access the backup cam at anytime, even while driving, hook up other accessories like iPads, front cams, video game systems, additional screens in the headrests, etc to the stock nav screen.

If you click on the Nav-Tv logo on the upper right side of your screen you'll be redirected to their website. If you want to see Nav-Tv sub-forums here on FRF containing product description, reviews, group buy info, etc, click on the button that says "Forum" in the orange bar towards the top left of the screen then scroll down to find the Nav-Tv sub-forum towards the bottom of the page. For info on Lockpick, a similar competing product, you'll have to use Google.

I recently installed the lockpick in my screw 2011 and I am now curious about the ability to add extra's like the playstation and monitors in the back. What extra module did you get for that?

I wonder if these vendors will add a feature that will allow you to view the front camera while in 2wd?
