Hey guys,
Just finished up 90% of the intercom install I have been working on. I just have to install the Push to talk buttons. I just took it for a test drive and I wanted to leave some positive feedback about it.
I went with the rugged radios 686 intercom. It was a little bit of overkill for the application, but I like all of the features it came with.
I can play music for all 4 riders in the truck, and it will automatically reduce the volume during communications, connected my phone via Bluetooth. The push to talk (ptt) is nice to have it works perfectly. Also their vox feature works amazing, and is easy to adjust.
Install was super easy, once you get all the parts. There are a lot of custom options so I recommend calling their sales team and having them walk you through it.
I mounted my radio below the glovebox for now, I plan finding a cleaner spot once I make up my mind. The intercom is mounted in glovebox so that I can keep it out of sight. I used industrial velcro to keep it attached to the box.
Below is what i did let me know what you think. I'll post a full how to once I get the PTT buttons drilled in and set.
Setup:
686 intercom
Two overhead headsets
Two 12' headset jack extensions
One iPod hookup
One Velcro ptt button
One 4' ptt hole mount button
Bluetooth connection
Icom connection cable
