What's the best way to connect a pos & neg to supply my amateur radio? From the fuse box passenger side? I don't want to drill any holes. I thought about running the wires from the battery thru the firewall but there again I do not want to puncture any holes. Is there any youtube videos showing recomendations or how to?

I can mount the main body of the radio under the drivers seat and the faceplate above the nav screen, tucking the wire behing the molding. But trying to figure out how to run the positve and negative wire to the radio is where I'm getting stuck.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Welcome!!!

If you want to connect directly to the battery, the quickest suggestion I have is to use one of the upfitter switch pass-through wires that Ford has provided.

Another suggestion would be to come up through one of the grommets under the door sill plate (plastic trim, pops off easy...). You can then tuck the wire under the carpet and come out under the seat. http://www.svtoffroad.com/showthread.php?424-CB-Part-2-coax-routing

In either case, it would probably be a good idea to fuse the wire at the battery.

Hi Robert. Welcome!

Mark's suggestions are good ones. Either idea will work well.

I went a slightly different route. Check out my solution here: http://www.svtoffroad.com/showthread.php?2570-Dual-Band-Ham-2-Way-Amateur-Radio-Install

I do plan to eventually hardwire it in, but this is working pretty well for now. Our aux power outlets are fused at 20amps, so that's plenty good. In fact I swapped in a 15 amp as per the recommendations of the radio's manual.

Also I would suggest reconsidering your under seat mount idea. I just didn't see a whole lot of room under there for good ventilation. And the speaker, depending on your radio, will have to work pretty hard to throw enough volume from under there.

Hope that helps!
