ICOM 5021 Race Radio---External Speaker?

Fellas,

Most of us have the ICOM 5021 race radio in our trucks. I'm wanting to wire in an external speaker for outside the vehicle. The 5021 radio has an external speaker outlet, but when plugging in the external speaker, is cancels out the internal speaker on the radio itself.

Is there a way to have both? This is 'Murica damn it! There has to be a way to have BOTH capabilities...internal and external without plugging the external speaker in each time. Is there a setting on the radio possibly?

Two external speakers. One inside. One outside with a splitter.

I did use a box to select internal and external that way I could switch between which one so I did not have the external on all the time..

Can you elaborate on this box? Where you got it and how it's wired and etc...
