I had an idea last night that could help to save space in the truck when installing the new audio system.

I have a 2011 Super Crew.

Is it possible to install the 6.5" JL Audio subwoofers in each of the rear doors and would they work well or must I have an enclosure? Is there sufficient space to build an enclosure in this location?

If this can't be done then I'll use the space where the jack is located...

This is the sub - 6W3v3-4 - Car Audio - Subwoofer Drivers - W3v3 - JL Audio

Cheers!

here, on frf
you can put woofers in there, but having a specifically built enclosure is going to give you better sound. it is not my preference to put sub woofers in the door. you will need to build the panel out a bit too. the speaker is too deep and will need modification to make it fit.

That sounds expensive and not an ideal (or particularly attractive) install.

I just don't want to leave the rear doors unused and this is how I justified to myself that I wouldn't need normal speakers in the rear doors!

Back to the drawing board...
