Any interest in a mid july AZ run? Update! Details finalized!

I've pretty much got everything set, went off the poll voting (all 4 of you, lol) and decided on Sunday 15 July.

If you guys can give me a definite yes or no on if you'll be coming that'd be great!

OK...LOCATIONS HAVE CHANGED DUE TO SYCAMORE BEING CLOSED UNTIL 7/31

Location: Wickenburg; Buckhorn Creek trail and Vulture Mountain Trail This will be a 40+ mile loop.

Date: 15 July. Forecast is calling for 100+ So bring water!

Meet Up Location: Cabelas Parking lot across from Westgate in Glendale. 9380 West Glendale Avenue, Glendale, AZ Southwest corner of the parking lot closest to intersection of Glendale and 95th. Look for the Orange Raptor with the ADD bumper.

Meet up time: 9:00 AM

Dinner and Drinks will be flexible. If we want to hit one of the restaurants in Westgate on our return, that's an option.

Confirmed Attending:
1. cups
2. aarons419
3. Fast62
4. Jake Y.
5. Rsike

Prospective Attendance:

1. Aarons419
2. Bojangles
3. Jake Y.
4. Phydough
5. Fast62
6. (no excuse for your name not to be here!)

Basic Plan is to start in Wickenburg, and head out to the East along Constitution Highway and follow the Buckhorn Creek Trail for 24.7 miles. There's several mines and other interesting things along the route to allow for stops if we want them.

Once we complete the BCT, we'll roll down Castle Hot Springs Road to the 60, where we will catch Gates Rd and cross the Hassayampa River. From there we'll be on Vulture Mountain Trail. We'll follow that for 13.1 miles until we run into Vulture Mine rd, which will take us back into Wickenburg and conclude the run.

It should be a pretty good day, so bring lots of water and if anyone has any of the little portable radios, bring those along too, because comms are going to be a bit of a pain. I'm not running a CB or VHF radio, I don't know about you guys.

Here's an overview of the trip. PM me for the Google Earth file.

I'm in all the way West TX (only about 5 hrs from PHX), but I'd maybe head out for it if the dates work. Truth be told, I may not be able though, I'll be in NYC part of mid-July and am also thinking about another vacation late July, so we'll see if I can. Thread subscribed.

Bo, I'd love to have Mighty ****** V2.0 and yourself out there. Nice part is there's spots all around PHX so if the group gets bored at one, we can move on to many others.

I'll put you on the list just so I can start it. :ROFLJest:

If something goes down in AZ, I usually make it it out! If i dont have anything pressing on the date in question I'll be there for sure.

I'd be in. But I would suggest the Flagstaff cinders. Around Phoenix in July will be over 1004°, you all down there may want to beat the heat by then and up here is a good place to be. I am willing to help find locations and legwork up here.

You know, I have had my Raptor for two years now and lived up here for 13 and have never been there. I will make a run over there tomorrow and let you know. I have heard there is lots to offer from side by side drag action to difficult hill climbs.

About the only drawback would be they might shut down access to the forest because of fire danger, there are already fire restrictions in place. It is dry as hell.
