Well gang, I made back unscathed from Colorado. I did Imogene, Ophir and Cinnamon passes as well as some fun dirt roads there too. But I wondered why i had such a hard time finding a room in Ouray, now I know. I wound up there on the same weekend as the annual FJ jamboree (don't know the group that put it on). I think it was either their 10th or 11th year jamboree and looked like a good group. It was fun talking to some of them and I did get a new appreciation of what those trucks are capable of, especially when moded, even though I had to wait on them at times. But most of all, I admired the way people from all over the country flocked there with their FJ's. I felt like the Lone Raptor in the San Juans.

I would love to see a Raptor meet up there. This was my first off road trip there and the wife and I fell in love with the area. Any Colorado guys want to put one together?

When I stayed in Ouray, we were at the Best Western. It has their own hot spring pool and fresh made free breakfast while you wait for the omelets. Would recommend the place.

Colorado is such a PITA to get a big group put together. I think the magic number is like 10 or less trucks before the start messing with you. That's one of the reason there isn't many organized runs out there. We did one last year with about 10 -11 trucks and had a blast. Jeep ******** everywhere, but they learned their lesson eventually. It is some of the best non-traditional Raptor country. These things are pretty versatile, huh?

They did well up there. And the people didnt have the jeepster attitude that they own 4 wheeling and the rest of us are just wannabes. Guess I was pleasantly surprised by the people involved. As for the FJ's abilities on the trails, they seemed better compared to a Rubicon than our trucks. Just nice to see such a dedicated group, but i agree that it can get too big. We followed about 20 of them headed for Engineer Pass in the morning, glad we took Cinnamon that day.

I was there the week before the FJ run! Stayed at the KOA with my trailer. We did engineer, Imogene and Poughkeepsie gulch. Our trucks do awesome out there, just a PITA coming down into telluride with heavy trail traffic

How did engineer compare to Imogene? I wanted to take it, but Didnt want to follow 20 FJs up the trail, Ha. We took Cinnamon Pass instead and of all things there was a guy up at the top with a Mini Cooper. He came in from the Lake City side, but it couldnt have been good for it. They dont have that much ground clearance. Maybe he watched the Italian Job too many times.

Engineer is pretty tight in places. But the scenery is BADASS!!! Depending on which way you go up (east or west) it would suck meeting even a 4 wheeler in paces. If you a 4 door, plan on doing some 3-4 point turns. Imogene is great but Engineer is on another level IMO.
