Advice on aftermarket rear bumper

So I got rear ended the other day. Got hit so hard that my equalizer hitch got bent. Very little body damage but. But the frame is bent just a little. The tow hitch is cracked. I'm looking for a nice aftermarket bumper but, the one I was looking at from addictive desert designs I'm being told is not as strong as the stock bumper and would not hold up well to being hit.

What are your thoughts on this?

Not sure but, I believe most of the aftermarket bumpers are not built to take a hit. I have seen one or two front aftermarket bumpers twisted and bent from collision.

Not sure you're gonna find a bumper that qualifies as 'accident' proof. Just get another stock bumper (maybe a take off?) if your worried about it in the future. Aftermarket bumpers are expensive......

I mean you could look at stuff like Fab-Fours, they seem to be pretty beefy. or you could go have one fabricated, that way you get to pick the materials and make it as beefy as you like.

The hitch & our bumper are separate pieces, you retain your factory hitch.

I went through this very similar situation you're in right now about 2 months ago. My front bumper was ripped off and I contemplated a stock or aftermarket bumper. I ended up going aftermarket because of the looks, approach angle, and how much stronger the new bumper is. And I had it Line-X'ed so I shouldn't have to worry about chipping or rust. The only downside is I paid a few hundred extra out of pocket, but it's a great deal if you want to upgrade. I have no regrets with my decision and love the way my truck looks even more than before.
