I will have to look for the email. Call Camera Source tell them you have a Sync2 and are going to upgrade to Sync3 utilizing the 4DTech company.

However you would like the front camera functionality. They would set you up with the equipment. They said it's pretty straight forward plug n play. But you would have to get their 360 degree unit.

If you really wanted to you could setup your truck for 360 degree camera view as well.

Let me know

I'll call them later this week. I actually wouldn't mind having the 360 camera setup. Just wondering where the extra cameras would be mounted.

Question though for those that have done this...I'm assuming all 13-14 raptors have automatic climate control (or maybe just 802a's), but I have not been able to get the temperature change overlay to work. Everything else is fine, the hard climate controls and the touchscreen controls both work, but when changing the temperature I do not get the radial overlay similar to what you get when you change the volume. The temperature settings change on the screen, but are not visible when in carplay/android auto. Being too lazy to switch back to the sync display, i find myself cranking the temp all the way one way or another instead of just setting a temp and letting it do its thing.

Just a follow up to the climate change indicator issue. I loaded an APIM config from a 2017 Raptor to see if that would get me working, but it did not. In fact I lost all control of the climate from the touchscreen. I tried a few documented changes related to CCR and climate configuration, but eventually threw in the towel and restored my backup.

Seems it's not possible to get that working. There are a lot of nibbles in the APIM config that have unknown effects, and many of these are different between what I had and what I loaded from the gen 2 as-built. It's a lot easier for the 2015+ guys since other than the APIM the rest of their hardware is the same SYNC2 to SYNC3, and they can just load a full APIM config from a later, similarly equipped truck. Pre 2015 guys have to hack at it and just accept some things just won't work.

No luck on the camera either, but guys selling these kits for $2k+ say it won't work either so I'm somewhat inclined to believe that. There are workarounds using third party cameras and adapters, but I'm not about to mess with all that.

I hope someone can prove me wrong, but on the other hand I'm surprised it's possible at all to get (mostly) working SYNC3 in a truck that was built long before it was released.

I actually spoke to someone at the Camera Source last Thursday and was told that they do not have a solution for this issue. I did not get the sense that the person I spoke to had a lot of experience with these systems so I was planning to reach out to try again.

*Hi Tyler,

I spoke with one of our engineers and here is what you would need to do*
to retain a front camera on your 2013 Raptor.

Multi-cam interface:*
https://camera-source.com/accessori...e-for-8-ford-factory-display-radios-2130.html

and

Front camera:*
https://camera-source.com/automotive-cams/ford-font-side-cameras/ford-raptor-front-camera-kit.html

The multi-cam interface will be plug and play with the SYNC 3 radio.*
You will swap your factory camera for our Raptor camera and run the*
harness to the multi-cam interface. The interface will power the camera*
and create the RCA connection for the front camera.

Take a look and please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Tricia

I just upgraded from MFT sync 2 to the sync 3 with NAV. My truck was also lacking SATXM so I installed a HD SAT radio as well. (Sourced that radio off Ebay, cheap) Install was a breeze with the vids online. I was on the fence for quite awhile mostly due to price. I found Joe, aka TexasFording over on the F150 forum. He has done tons of these upgrades, and REALLY knows his stuff. He can program the unit based on the VIN. (That includes the Raptor splash screen) I paid $1250 for the APIM, and sync3 screen, he also includes the new sync 3 USBs, and trim for the usb opening. He uses a splice kit to power the USBs, but I picked up an adapter for 45 bucks so I didn't need to splice anything. He is a really helpful guy, and has answers for anything you might run into. I know some of you would like to do the mod, but price is an issue, so I wanted to throw this out there. Front cam is the only thing I find that does not function. Our gen 1 front cameras are not compatible with sync3, as others have mentioned. (Back cam works fine)

I called Infotainment and 4d. Infotainment told me the front camera will work with theirs, but 4d told me it won’t. Are they different or does Infotainment not know what they’re talking about?

Went ahead and ordered the one from Infotainment.com today and just got a notification from fedex that it’ll be delivered tomorrow. Too bad I’ll be out of state! They took my vin and swore the front camera will work, but I’m not very hopeful since 4dTech said there is no way to make it work. Also, they gave me the Black Friday discount and it brought the price down to $1350.00 for the one with no nav. They also said they would buy my old unit for $150, but I’ll probably keep it. Will probably install Sunday and give an update after.
