My Raptor with just less than 21,000 miles had a transmission problem that ultimately left me with 3 gears: 3rd, 4th, and 5th. I took it to the dealership where the problem was solved. Below is an account:

This is a TSB:
TSB 13-6-8 (publication date June 7, 2013)

Issue: Some 2011-2014 Mustang, 2011-2013 F-150, 2012-2013 Expedition and Navigator vehicles equipped with a 6R80 transmission and built on or before 4/8/2013 may exhibit a transmission engagement in 5th gear when starting. The wrench indicator and/or the seat belt minder may be illuminated, the speedometer reads zero and the odometer displays dashes while driving. Symptoms may clear after an ignition key cycle. Diagnostics trouble codes (DTCs) PO720 and PO722 may or may not be stored in the powertrain control module.

Don't know how I missed this but this is EXACTLY what's going on with my truck! I'm in 2011 with just over 74,000 miles and started doing this over the weekend. Thanks!

Hmm haven't had any problems yet but I'm thinking I might take the truck in with this TSB and tell them to check it out. So would you need the warrenty for this or does the TSB cover it?

Turns out this was EXACTLY what was wrong with my truck. Dealer called a few hours ago and said they should have the truck ready tomorrow. Only difference is, my truck would suddenly throw the code while in motion. I was driving along at 70mph when it kicked down a gear and the display went blank as you can see in the attached photo.

Just had TSB 13-6-8 performed on my 2012 Screw (11/2011 build). Things started going funky at 10,188 miles. While the dealer claimed that this particular TSB didn't pop up for my particular VIN, they had no problem applying and performing it, under warranty of course. Fixed the problem perfectly.

Does anybody know if this is covered if you are outside factory 36k mile warranty?

Hi pricenj,

TSBs are typically covered while you're under the original bumper-to-bumper (3 year/36,000 mile) warranty. I recommend contacting your dealership's service manager to confirm whether or not this TSB applies to your VIN and if it would be covered.

Thank you for the heads up crystal. I really hope it is :/. I would be afraid to see the bill for this one.
