what is the go to tuner? i had a superchips programer for my old truck. what is a good one to get for the raptor? easy to use the better. what about this :
SCT SF3 Power Flash Ford Programmer
SCT Part Number: 3015

is that the same as the 5star that everyone talks about?
Yes, 5-star uses the SCT tuners... I think you can now get them in a few different SCT models, the standard tuner with basic readout, and that new fancy one that just came out with an integration to your phone, etc.

In any case, if you're interested in the 5-star tune (which is great) you'll need to contact them directly to purchase a pre-programmed SCT unit.

Dennis Gomes @ Tasca Ford.

SCT is separate from Superchips Inc.

SCT X3 is the handheld device you want. Both SCT and Superchips are very easy to operate, however the SCT offers individial dealer networks, so you're reliant on the talents and capability of the individual company.

I also have the 5 star tune. Not only is their product great, but Mike will work with you for individual dial-in settings if required. Awesome customer service. :peace:

SCT makes the device, but you need someone who specializes in tuning to load a custom tune file to it and send it out. The tuner will be able to dial in the tune to exactly what you're looking for (octane, aggressiveness, any mods you have, trans shifting, etc) and send it right out. Go with 5Star Tuning. PM 5Star(Mike) on here. I have a the 87 Performance tune from him loaded in my truck and I'm very happy with it.

thanks guys, :waytogo: The Key to a good map/tune is more than wide open throttle on a dyno runs. Dont get me wrong love making noise but... we all dont drive at wide open throttle ..

Let me also add to my above statement regarding Mike @ 5 Star.

So I was hoping to tweak my shift points a bit on my performance tune. I called Mike on Friday and discussed. Then I email Mike this morning with some of the criteria I am looking for along with expectations and....

....only a few hours later..I get an email from Mike with a modified tune attached!!!!! :waytogo:

Good luck finding that kind of customer service anywhere else!! Thanks Mike! :peace:

When you tune you're truck does that void the warranty? The dealer suckered me into buying the extended one as well so I'm covered. However no sense in getting a tune if it may void it.

Have Mike on the list of must haves thanks for the good words. That and the RPG stage 3 kit for starters I like the comments I am hearing from that kit even on the pavement.

Maybe Mike can clear this up for us.

When I had a superchips in my 04 and went in for inspection they could not read my computer and knew I had a tune in. It took a couple days after returning it to stock for the module's to reset so they could read it, at least thats what they told me.

Now Ive read stuff about these new tunes and the dealership not being able to detect it.

Mike, is there any truth to that ? Should we worry about returning it to stock everytime we go to the dealership?

John, to help you with your question, I do know that if you have a tune and you go to the dealer for warranty work they would have to prove that the tune was at fault for your problem. I can also tell you that the 5star tune made my truck much more enjoyable to drive. Better acceleration, throttle response and firmer shifts.
